No ‘Point Break’ Remake For Keanu Reeves

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, helmer of Oscar-winner “Hurt Locker,” and toplining Reeves, Patrick Swayze and Gary Busey, “Point Break” was produced by Largo Entertainment and, released by Fox, grossed $83.5 million worldwide.

The crime-thriller also proved a step-up in the career of Reeves and Bigelow. In 2011, Alcom Entertainment announced a remake set in the extreme-sports world, with an FBI agent again infiltrating a criminal gang. Kurt Wimmer (“Salt,” the “Total Recall” remake) had written the screenplay.

But Reeves doesn’t want in. “Absolutely no. It’s not my place,” he told BBC 5 Live radio in an interview to be broadcast Tuesday, but already reported by the BBC.

“If they can find a way to do it that works out good, then God bless them,” he said, adding that the remake sounded very exciting.

“But is it a good thing?” Reeve asked, who suggested some movies — “Wizard of Oz,” “Apocalypse Now” — should carry a “no-remake clause.”
