Black Truth News: What are the requirements to enter the program?
Darius Thomas:  To be a participant in One Hood Media Arts Center, we are looking for kids from junior high up until they senior year in high school. During that whole time, you go through cycles in the program, where you go through different things, but we let you live out your dreams. The dream of being a rapper, the dream of being a producer; and what we going to do is work with a Cable Access channel, we have plans to put on a weekly television program, and give the kids a chance to see what they are doing.

For all of that, all you are required to do is finish high school on time.  My staff and I will follow you through junior high, through high school. Up until to the point of graduation.
Black Truth News: Do they have to have a certain GPA?
Darius Thomas:  Well a C average is what we are expecting, but people with a D average, who are on the border of getting a C, will remain also, as long as you try hard, it will keep you in the program. I want them so focused on the program that they are not falling for any of these traps that’s out here.

Black Truth News: Are you willing to work with the public school system?
Darius Thomas:  Yes. You can’t be limited, that’s what I was referring to when I mentioned the C average, you have to be flexible with people. I wouldn’t mind working with the schools, and set up on a smaller scale what we were trying to do at Hood Media Art Center in the schools.

Black Truth News: What are your goals for the program?

Darius Thomas: Short term, I want to increase the amount of young people that walk across the stage for graduation. Long term, I want to assemble an army of young people that’s out in the world making conscious decisions throughout their life.
