Patients are Dying in Puerto Rico Hospitals because of Primitive Conditions and Transportation Issues

According to a report in USA Today, Puerto Rico is still having major issues in their hospitals after Hurricane Maria.. A lack of transportation makes it hard for patients to be transferred to larger hospitals from small towns. Carlos Méndez, an associate administrator at the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital, in Hato Rey district of San Juan said “We have hospitals that are working, but eventually we are going to have to transfer patients.” A lack of communication has also contributed to the difficulties of the hospitals, who can’t provide information between each other.
