Pimp Chronicles by Bear Grizzly: Money, Power & Respect

I was walking into a club once and there was this lady standing outside smoking a cigarette. I asked her what the atmosphere inside the club was and made some small talk. Throughout the conversation, we got to occupations, and when I told her I write she said, “Oh that’s enough money for me.” She said she was a pharmacist and needed someone who made more money.

Keep in mind I wasn’t trying to holler at her, just conversing. Perhaps that’s why my voice was raised a little when I said “I wasn’t trying to impress you” and “I think you’re thinking is shallow.” I probably was being too sensitive. To be fair, it was nothing wrong with her knowing what tax bracket she wants to date in. And the truth is, maybe she was right; I probably didn’t make enough money to suffice her goals. I guess it was the way she said it.

On the other hand, I do think when you are over 35 and haven’t found exactly what you looking for, you might want to be a tad more flexible. A lot of people price their selves out of the game. Some women want a dude with a nice car, house, and hefty 401k. Some dudes want a supermodel with money like Oprah. Everyone wants to be in a ‘power couple’ type of relationship; ala JAY Z and Beyonce.

However, you should ask yourself do you have the money to be the other half of the power couple. Or are you willing to sacrifice some of your integrity and independence to be with someone with money? Football player Ray Rice’s wife stuck with him and defended him, even though he punched her ass in the elevator. She stuck with him mainly because she has been with him since college, and she is financially dependent on him. Not to mention, she probably has some mental issues; but I digress.

In parting, I leave you with the wise words of Tony Montana. “In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.”
