Earlier this month, the Senate released a report stating that the website Backpage.com was benefitting from prostitution and sex trafficking. In the midst of the controversy Backpage.com shut down its adult section on their website. This move has not slowed down business for the site or the people who use it. Instead of removing their ads, prostitutes and johns have moved their ads to another section. Most of the promotion for sex, can now be found in the dating sections such as “women seeking men.” Last year charges of pimping was thrown out against Backpage CEO Carl Ferrer and the owners Michael Lacey and James Larkin in the state of California.
