Finally what puts me over the top with James, is his early career success with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he practically had nothing, unless you want to count Donyell Marshall and Damon Jones, and he took those teams to the best records in the NBA and to the NBA Finals. He has already proven that he has the capabilities to take the Charlotte Bobcats, the ‘Bad News Bears’ and anybody else, and make them winners. Although Bird made a bigger impact for his team in terms of wins his rookie season, an unbelievable 32 game turnaround for his Celtics in comparison to an 18 turnaround for James Cavaliers; his second season he got McHale and Parrish and the rest is history.
I will say this is a more valid comparison than LeBron James and Michael Jordan. For one LeBron and Bird play the same position, and more importantly their skill set and stats are similar. I put some video clips below so you can peep their steelo.
