Remembering Tommy Morrison — Better Known as Tommy Gunn

Article ReprintRay Mercer v Tommy Morrison

No matter how many fights he won or lost, former  WBO World Heavyweight Champion Tommy Morrison — who died Sunday in an Omaha,  Nebraska hospital — was always going to be remembered as Tommy “Machine” Gunn,  the mulleted, arrogant son of a bitch who won the heavyweight title in Rocky  V against a “paper champ,” but who couldn’t beat an aged and injured Balboa  in a Philadelphia street fight. But maybe that’s better than being known as  Morrison, who never lived up to his potential, and whose career was marred by a  positive HIV test, drunk driving, and jail time.
