So You Mean to Tell Me Clair Huxtable (Phylicia Rashad) Never Won A Golden Globe….You Know That Ain’t Right!!

I first want to say congratulations to Tracee Ellis Ross on winning a Golden Globe Award last night. In doing so she became the first Black woman in 35 years to win the award in a TV Comedy or Musical. That feat deserves praise, but the people who have been passing this award should be shameful. You mean in 35 years, their committee haven’t found any Black actress of this award. What about Nell Carter from ‘Gimmie A Break?‘ What about Ella Joyce, who was Charles Dutton’s wife in the show Roc? What about Tisha Campbell in her roles on Martin and My Wife and Kids? And if that wasn’t good enough’ what about Phylicia Rashad in her role as Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show?

Ironically enough, Phylicia Rashad sister, Debbie Allen, was the last Black woman to win the award. Her role in the TV show Fame, got her the award in 1982.

I don’t remember that much about that show, but I’m sure other shows with Black actresses have been comparable. I didn’t watch the Golden Globes last night and I can’t tell you the last time that I have watch the award show. Based on their history of disregarding Black actresses on television; it seems like the only thing I been missing is a prejudice award show.
