Stuart Scott, Longtime ESPN Anchor, Dies at 49 After Battle With Cancer

stuart scott“He didn’t just push the envelope,” former ESPN anchor Dan Patrick told ESPN. “He bulldozed it.” 

Scott was known for his catchphrases “Boo-Yah!,” “As cool as the other side of the pillow,” and “He must be the bus driver ’cause he was takin’ him to school.”

In July, Scott accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, saying in a statement, “When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.” 

Scott joined ESPN in 1993 for the launch of ESPN 2. He is survived by his two daughters Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15.
