Taxstone Charged With Killing Troy Ave’s Bodyguard

Taxstone, born Daryl Campbell, was charged with second-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty during a Thursday afternoon hearing.

Taxstone pleaded guilty in June to two federal weapons counts of possessing a firearm as a felon and receiving a firearm in interstate commerce, the New York Daily News reports. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office told Judge Lorna Schofield during June’s hearing the podcast personality “fired one shot” that killed McPhatter.

Troy Ave was charged with attempted murder in the shooting. Troy’s DNA was also found on the gun that was used to kill to McPhatter. Troy told prosecutors he wrestled the gun away from Taxstone, and fired back to defend himself.
