Tennis Star Maria Sharapova announced that she will be retiring from the sport at the age of 32. Sharapova was the highest-earning women athlete with her multiple endorsement deals for 11 straight years. On the tennis court, she won five Grand Slam singles, an Olympic Silver medal, and was ranked number one for 21 weeks in 2005.

She got suspended in 2016 for using a performance-enhancing drug called meldonium. Since her reinstatement, she has been unsuccessful in becoming competitive and overcoming injuries.

“Maria is very smart, very savvy and very professional, probably the ultimate professional,” said Steve Simon, the chief executive of the Women’s Tennis Association, in a recent interview. “She’ll be remembered very well for what she brought to the game, and I think everybody thinks of her as the ultimate competitor.” To read more about this story click here.
