Tuesday charges were filed against three police officers who were at the scene of the murder Laquan McDonald. The three officers, Thomas Gaffney, David March and Joseph Walsh are charged with agreeing the false account of McDonald pulling out a knife before he was shot 16 times by officer Jason Van Dyke. Video showed was not attacking Van Dyke with a knife, he was walking away. The fact that the officers helped facilitate a blatant lie, shows not only their evils, but how deeply corrupted the Chicago Police Department is. According to wgntv.com Van Dyke’s attorney released a statement saying that if the charges are true, the entire command staff of the police department, including the former and current superintendents, must be part of the conspiracy considering they were aware of the reports and video when they signed off on the shooting. It seems the CPD code of conduct is to protect their own, no matter how shady the crime is. Hopefully this matter could be addressed in the proper manner, by reprimanding as many as possible who contribute to this unjust, immoral behavior.
