They haven’t had much success as recording artist, their one album Wake the Neighbors was shelved in 2008. However, if you scroll down to their list of songwriting and producing credits, you will find a long list of big name artist and hits. They have two top ten hits with Sean Kingston and the Pussycat Dolls respectively. Not to mention some of the most recognizable songs from the last five years are associated with this production team.
I started to listen to some of the songs they have participated in the past and noticed the adlibs in more songs. For instance, you can hear them in the background of song they did with Beenie Siegel.
With this circumstantial evidence pending, I’m sure these two were the adlib guys. Now I know for a casual listener, this may not mean much. Most people just want to hear a great tune. However you always hear about the Timbaland and DJ Mustard, but rarely about these guys. I know most writers and engineers who help make the song great are behind the scenes; but that’s my point.
You hear a lot of young people say they want to be rappers and singers, but rarely do they say songwriter. Or studio session player or music engineer. I think it is helpful to let young folks know you can still be successful in the music business without being a recording artist. These two brothers are definitely an example of that. So next time you hear you favorite song from your favorite artist on the radio; listen to the adlibs.
