In the same way that the East and West Coast rap scenes are markedly different, there are distinct differences between sneakers in New York and and Los Angeles. For example, Nike’s Air Force 1, the low-top version of which is colloquially called the “Uptown,” is decidedly a New York sneaker. Conversely, the Nike Cortez is the go-to style for a lot of West Coast natives. Now, L.A.’s most popular sneaker store, Undefeated, has teamed up with the Swoosh on a version of the iconic sneaker that reps the so-called best coast.
