The NFL is trying to appease Black People by Playing “Black National Anthem” before their games

It seems the trendy thing for White run corporations and White people in general to do is to say ‘Black Lives Matter’ or to attach themselves to something that acknowledges their support for Black people. This is probably true for the NFL as well, but beyond that, they still are trying to damage control their handling of the Colin Kaepernick situation. To some people, Kaepernick has become hero because he protested the injustice towards Black people by taking a knee during NFL games while they played the National Anthem.

Some people have speculated that Kaepernick’s protest was the reason he lost his job as a quarterback in the NFL and hasn’t returned since 2016. That theory has created public backlash towards the NFL and subsequently lose fans and business. In the midst of that, they have been trying to save face and extend an olive branch towards Black folks and some of their movements.

They hired JAY Z as and “consultant” to the league and put him in charge of the Super Bowl entertainment. They announced that they will pledge millions of dollars towards various Black charities across the nation. They even made a laughable attempt to have a public workout to let Kaepernick back in the league.

In spite of their efforts, the NFL cannot hide their true colors. The truth is they are run by wealthy White men who are steadfast in maintaining their power over their affairs. They have proven that they are reluctant to concede any control to any Black people despite the many Black athletes who play in their league. This reluctance extends throughout ownership, management, and the different forms of decision making in their sport. This fact cannot be denied and until they change that, things will remain the same in their sport. It would be more satisfactory to me, if the NFL works towards lifting every voice in all aspects of their business, instead of trying to appease Black people by just playing a song.
