The guy who has been accused of making the arrangement between the girls and recruit, Andre McGee has not released a statement. Rick Pitino the high profile coach of the program has claimed his innocence and ignorance of the situation. Despite the silence and deflections, there will still be sanctions and repercussions following the full investigation of this scandal.
I watched the interview of Ms. Powell and her daughters and wondered how she was able to pull it off. Not the act of sleeping with the recruits; that’s not surprising. Mostly everyone who is familiar with high profile athletics knows the dynamics of groupies, prostitutes and promiscuity; and how it is woven into the culture. Obviously Rick Pitino made the mistake of putting his trust in a dumb dude who didn’t have sense enough to go to a discreet location. No, I was wondering how Ms. Powell was able to openly discuss pimping out her daughters.
Not only did she do it when they were teenagers; she is doing it now with her book. I think a more interesting topic than a book about her relationship with the Louisville players; would be a how is the relationship between her and children. I’m not downplaying the unfortunate scenario of teenage recruits and prostitutes. I’m simply saying that it is more common than mothers pimping out their teenage daughters.
