The Truth of Nipsey Hussle, Falsehood of Dr. Sebi and Our Desire for a Black Messiah

Following his death, people on social media and other various internet platforms started speculating that his demise was more than just a regular killing. The prevailing rumor was that Nipsey was “assassinated” due to his plans to release a documentary on herbalist Dr. Sebi.

Some people contend that participation, affiliation or promotion of the teachings of Dr. Sebi from high profile individuals sometimes result in their passing. Some argue that celebrities like Left Eye, Prodigy and Nipsey all came to their demise after planning to share the “wisdom” of Dr. Sebi to the mainstream.

Even the death of Dr. Sebi has been controversial. His last days were spent in prison on charges of money laundering. He died from complications of pneumonia in 2016 while being transported from a Honduran prison to a hospital for treatment. During his lifetime, his claim to fame was that he was able to cure HIV/AIDS, cancer and any other sickness known to mankind.

I watched a couple of Dr. Sebi’s videos and just let’s say I wasn’t convinced he was a “master healer.” He was charismatic and did give some insight into how a plant-based diet could help your immune system and ward off illness. However, I didn’t hear anything groundbreaking that would revolutionize the mortality and health of the human race. There have been a lot of studies that directly link the consumption of eating meat and other processed foods to diseases. The knowledge that eating natural foods, vegetables, drinking water, exercising and having positive vibes contribute to a healthy lifestyle didn’t start with Dr.Sebi.
