The Truth of Nipsey Hussle, Falsehood of Dr. Sebi and Our Desire for a Black Messiah

Truthfully, if I was diagnosed with a life-threatening, incurable disease; I would have probably given Dr. Sebi a call myself. There was void in the medical field and he wisely said he could fill it. Since I don’t have any substantial proof, either way , I can’t say that his fulfillment promise was real or fake; nonetheless, I am highly skeptical.

By the same token, I am just as and maybe more skeptical in the medical field. I do believe that our health system is controlled by pharmaceutical corporations who are more concerned with pushing drugs than curing people or saving lives. In Dr, Sebi’s defense, I do believe natural medicines and alternative healing is a viable source for people. I’m just not convinced that one man was the know all and be all.

The bigger issue for me is how easily Black people gravitate towards anyone who we believe has the “cure.” That person who we believe can rid us of the ills of our body, mind, family, community, and soul. The person that can lead us to the “promised land.”  It doesn’t matter if it is a healer, athlete, preacher, entertainer, activist; we are in constant search of our “Black Messiah.”

This theory is not lost on the United States government either. They know that we have huge desire for a leader, and there is actual documentation that states they will try to suppress, eliminate and destroy anyone who they believe can become one. Throughout history, this initiative by the government has been one of the factors in the death of our brilliant Black men who have dedicated their lives to our struggle.

With that said, there is no conspiracy in the death of Nipsey Hussle. There is actual evidence that the United States government doesn’t want Black men to articulate, educate and activate plans to uplift their people. Despite the arrest of Eric Holder in connection with Nipsey’s murder, you can’t minimize the government’s possible involvement directly or indirectly.

On the other hand, we can’t maximize it to the point where we ignore the accountability of our own actions. Unfortunately, the energy that contributes to envy, jealousy, and hate in our communities sometimes comes from our own people. These are truths that some people don’t want to acknowledge. There is no speculation in truth and no need to follow when you believe in yourself. The question is what do you believe?
