I’m going to keep it real. LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul are my favorite players in the NBA. If I had to pick a team and choose a point guard as my first pick; it would be Westbrook. Chris Paul reminds me of Jason Kidd, his intelligence and how he always make the right decisions on the court is truly a treat to watch. However, when I have DeMarcus Cousins at center, Anthony Davis, Lebron James, and James Harden at shooting guard; then I’m going with Curry at the point. It seems like Westbrook will try to prove he is the best player on the team; regardless who is on his team. Maybe that’s the reason Kevin Durant left OKC. Sometime it easier share the ball, than it is to share space for egos. Yeah Chris Paul would be a great fit in that lineup also , because he will probably have like 50 assists. But when those players get double teamed and kick the ball out; there is nobody I rather have shooting over Curry.

Throughout history, there have been some spot up shooters who were just as good as him. Dale Ellis, Glen Rice and Ray Allen to name a few. But when it comes to the combination of spot up shooting, shooting off screens, and shooting off the dribble; Curry is the best ever. Last year he shot 50 percent from the field. That’s beyond amazing when you put in perspective. Basically if he shoots two shots from anywhere on the court; he is going to make one. That sounds more believable from a player like Shaq when he was playing. Because Shaq was 300 pounds and stood right by the rim and dunked most of the time.  But Curry literally shoots from anywhere on the court; he routinely made half court shots throughout the course of last season. What I been noticing though, is that Curry be dropping dimes also. Even thouh he averaged almost 7 assists a game, he still is a underrated passer. I think his handles are second only to Kyrie Irving and he is not great defensively; but he is respectable.

I was going to say something about him winning back to back MVP’s. But then I looked at this list of all the players who back to back MVP’s and realized my beef is still with Steve Nash.

Since Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook has been the darling of the NBA. It is like the girl who got stood up for prom and everyone voted for her to win prom queen. It is kind of hard to say something about his game that hasn’t already been said. He doesn’t have many flaws outside his determination to be the best on the floor. He is not really selfish, but one of the duties of the point guard, is to facilitate the needs of others around you. It’s like the quarterback who throws to all of his receivers, but make sure the deep ball goes to the star. I’m not saying that he didn’t give Durant the ball, because he did. I just think he didn’t make Durant feel like he was the leader. Based on Westbrook play, Durant probably wasn’t the leader. The other negative in his actual game is his lack of range. He shot below 30% percent from the 3-point stripe last year. Not that statistic makes it easier to guard him. It just points out that someone as great as him can still improve his game.
