Top Ten NBA Players by Position [2018-19 Season]

Russell Westbrook

I started researching the players statistics over a week ago. Therefore most if not all the players numbers have change since the actual posting of this article.  I haven’t felt like going back and change all the stats for each player. Not only that, but I don’t think there has been significant jump in their numbers for me to change them.

Then I noticed, Westbrook is now averaging a triple double. He jumped from averaging nine rebounds and assists to ten in both categories. I changed his numbers because I think Westbrook averaging a triple double for three seasons is worth noting. That would be huge if he averages a triple double for three seasons in a row.  I think that stat line not only defines his career but justify my selection.

I don’t think Westbrook is the point guard you pick if you want to win a championship. (Somewhere Kevin Durant is saying told you so)  I found this out last season when I picked his team to go to the NBA Finals. Similar to LeBron James, it is hard for other players to find their role when playing with someone who does everything. The only difference is LeBron is better than Westbrook.

However if you starting a team, which point guard would you pick? We have yet to see Curry perform without the assistance of other All-Stars on his team. We saw Kyrie when he was the man in Cleveland and his team was in the lottery. What other point guard do you know that can carry his team on his back? Maybe you can put Damian Lillard in his category, but he is not better than Westbrook.

Stephen Curry

The more you try to hate on Curry, the more he shines. He is what he is and that is one of the best players of this decade. I love Kyrie and I think Damian Lillard is underrated, but Curry is more consistent. Plus you can ignore he is part of a dynasty team. I’m picking Westbrook over him for the reasons I named above, but after that you have to roll with Chef Curry.
