LeBron James

Career

27.2 7.2 7.4

I confessed something earlier this year that it was hard to do. I stated that the LeBron James wasn’t the best player in the NBA anymore. That was a heartbreaking thing for me to say since he is one of my favorite players of all time. I based it off an early season game against the Houston Rockets. I noticed that LBJ didn’t have the same energy when closing out games.I do realized that he has picked up the pace throughout the season. I also realized that he has maintained the same stats that he has the pretty much throughout his career.

To be clear, I never said that he was not a great player .I still considered him one of the top two players in the world. In fact, I even said that I believe he will win the MVP this year. More than anything, I was comparing him to himself. I don’t see him as the complete dominant player that can stick Derrick Rose in the playoffs and get a triple double. To be fair, he has played a lot of basketball and father time is not prejudice. With that said, he still remains the top player at his position. Most likely in the next couple seasons that will change, but for now it remains the same.

Kevin Durant

30.1 6.1 7.9

Career

27.2 4.0 7.1

Kawhi Leonard played nine games last season. This season he has already missed seven games and it seems the Raptors will not play him in a lot of back to back games. His unreliability is just one reason I’m not picking him over KD. The other is quite simply, he is not better. I’m picking KD 10 out of 10 times over Kawhi.

Durant is still the best scorer in the NBA and one of the best of all time. I will give Kawhi the edge on defense, but lately Durant has stepped up on that side of the ball as well. The bottom line, if the Raptors make it to the NBA Finals and Kawhi outplays Durant; I would put him in this slot.
