Tycoon Charged Over Taped Attack On TV Star

He returned to Cambodia on Saturday, two days after Prime Minister Hun Sen called the attack “intolerable” and ordered him to return home and turn himself in.

Police met Sok Bun at Phnom Penh International Airport and took him to the municipal court, where he was questioned for several hours before being charged.

He was then driven to a prison on the capital’s outskirts and will be detained until his trial. If convicted, he could be jailed for up to five years.

Sok Bun issued statements last week through his lawyer to say he “deeply regrets what happened”.

He offered to pay Sasa $100,000 (£64,000) in compensation, which she declined, saying she wanted to see him in court.
