It is sad that I have to write that Malik B has passed away at the age of 47. Malik B whose real name Malik Abdul Basit was a founding member of the Roots crew and played a major role in their first few albums. Although he wasn’t as popular as Questlove or Black Thought, his contribution to their sound made him just as important.
