Universal Music Group announced that it has launched a new label division called Def Jam Africa. The new division will be based in Johannesburg and Lagos. According to Fader, Def Jam will sign talent from across the continent, but at the moment the new roster consists of artist from South Africa and Nigeria. Some of those artists are Boity (South Africa), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Larry Gaaga (Nigeria) Nadia Nakai (South Africa), Nasty C (South Africa), Tshego (South Africa), Tellaman (South Africa), Ricky Tyler (South Africa) and Vector (Nigeria).
