Viewing of ‘Roxanne Roxanne’ in Atlanta Celebrates Her Legacy along with other Hip Hop Legends

The celebration of the legacy of Roxanne Shante’s legacy continued this week with the official viewing of her movie ‘Roxanne Roxanne in Atlanta. Hip Hop stars Killer Mike, David Banner and Kap G came out to support the showing at the Gathering Spot in Atlanta.

The audience not only got a chance to view the movie but participated in a question and answer session with Roxanne, producer Mimi Valdez and actress Chante Adams who portrayed Roxanne in the film.  The movie chronicled how Roxanne got started in Hip Hop and became a star, mom, domestic abuse victim, and survivor.

Touching on those topics has opened the dialogue on the role Hip Hop pioneers have played in establishing the culture into the mainstream. Hip Hop legends Kool Moe Dee, Sparky D, and MC Shan were also in attendance and answered questions about their contribution to the game. Roxanne talked about her early success and how being a teen mom and domestic abuse victim molded her into being a motivator and inspiration for other young women who have issues. In all the night was a celebratory event filled with admiration and love for the movie and legacy of Roxanne Shante
