In an interview with Gayle King on “CBS This Morning,” Virginia Governor Ralph Northam tried to clean up his reputation as a racist. Instead, he showed his distorted view on American history with Blacks and slavery. Instead of calling slavery by name, he called Blacks “indentured servants.”

“We are now at the 400-year anniversary,” the Democratic governor said. “Just 90 miles here in 1619, the first indentured servants from Africa landed on our shores in Old Point Comfort, what we call now Fort Monroe, and while…” Northam said before being interrupted by King. “Also known as slavery,” Gayle King said.

Northam is embroiled in controversy from a 1984 photo in his yearbook from medical school. The photo show the Virginia governor in a Blackface costume. Despite Northam apologizing for the photo, both political parties have suggested that he resign. To read more about this story click here.
