Was There Any Doubt?

It has comatose the people in the black community, yet we hold out hope that it will change. We hope that judicial in this country would humanize the lives of the human beings that are being slaughtered. To no avail; we continue to get disappointed by the outcome of cases that document police misconduct. I was asked by a friend did I expect justice in the case involving my brother Marlon Horton, who was murdered by an off duty police officer in Chicago. I replied that I have never seen a police officer get charged and convicted for brutalizing a Black Man. There was video evidence that blatantly shows police officers kicking Rodney King ass in California but they got acquitted. The message is and has been clear for some time now that America does not place value on the lives of Black folks.

The case of Mike Brown was at the forefront of a lot of cases involving police misconduct in 2014. The growing resentment towards civility for Blacks was expressed through the comments of Rudy Guilliani. He said that it would be “no need for white police officers if blacks weren’t killing each other.” Its one thing to arrest and convict the criminals in the community but to treat everyone in the community as criminals is wrong. Beyond that, to kill unarmed men and women and children is barbaric and devilish. The insult to injury is to continue to do these things without repercussions or remorse. The case of Darren Wilson was never in question; there was never any doubt that he was going to be let off the hook. Wilson knew he wasn’t going to jail before and after he fired the shots that killed Mike Brown. Police Officers know they have a free pass to kick a nigger ass or kill him without any form of punishment. The bottom line this shouldn’t come as any surprise to the people in the black community.
