However, The Dark Knight, in my opinion, is on another level. After seeing The Black Panther, I must say it is on par with The Dark Knight.
But the question I have been asking is: do you think The Black Panther is better than The Dark Knight? So far, I have been getting the responses, yes or I don’t know from people I asked. Everyone who I have talked to who has seen both movies agree that both are classics.
The story lines for both movies are great, and so is the acting. According to Forbes, The Black Panther is the best reviewed comic book movie since The Dark Knight. In addition to that, The Black Panther is on pace to be in the top ten grossing films ever. The numbers are in, the people have spoken, and now what do I think?
I agree with Black folks who have mentioned that it was good to see not only a Black superhero, but a mostly Black cast. I love the way the movie intertwined the storyline of the comic book character with a storyline that pertains to the Black community. Some people will pick The Black Panther as the best, based on that aspect alone. And you can’t really blame them, since you rarely see these type of storylines or any positive Black character portrayal in major Hollywood movie productions. In general, I loved everything about the movie, but I’m still picking The Dark Knight as the best of the best. Only because of the performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker. I think that is the small edge that puts it on top. Yeah Michael B. Jordan did his thing in TBP, but it wasn’t better performance than Ledger. Maybe over time, once I watched TBP as much as I have TDK, I will gain a tad bit more appreciation and loved it that much more. Until then, I have to give it second place behind The Dark Knight.
