White Sox Quietly Becoming Contendors with No One Watching

CHICAGO— If you asked me three days ago to rank the top five American League favorites to reach the World Series, I would have gone Yankees/Rangers, Rays, Tigers and Angels or, possibly, White Sox.

After watching the White Sox come back to beat the Yankees the past two nights, it’s time to remove the “possibly” and move the White Sox up a notch or two. These guys are good. Better-than-most-think good.

“We’ve got a long ways to go,” catcher A.J. Pierzynski said. “But we’re in a good spot right now, right where we want to be.”
