White Sox Quietly Becoming Contendors with No One Watching

Big bounce backs

If Adam Dunn doesn’t win Comeback Player of the Year in the AL, it likely will be because of teammate Alex Rios. After a dismal 2011 that included a career-low .227 average, Rios is hitting .300 and already has more homers, runs and RBIs in 119 games this season than he had in 145 in 2011. He tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly in the second to halt Yankee momentum and give the White Sox their first run.

Dunn contributed only an intentional walk in the second game of this three-game set, but he has been pumping out the power all year. He leads the majors with 36 homers, more than tripling his inexplicable output of 11 a year ago, and his 84 RBIs are twice what he finished with in 2011.
