Why Is There Little to No Remembrance of Eazy E and His Legacy?

Truthfully before Puffy famously said “Don’t worry if I write rhymes, I write checks,” Eazy was already doing it.  With no problem, he told the world that “Ice Cube writes the rhymes that I say.” He was probably the first businessman who became a successful rapper. “What stands out to me is the vision that he had. E may not have been the best MC, but he was a great visionary. And without his vision, you don’t get the world’s most dangerous group, N.W.A. His vision is what branded the West Coast as a major force in hip-hop.” said Krayzie Bone of Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony.

Eazy E might not ever be embedded in our memories the way Pac and Big are. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve to be acknowledged for his contributions. The bottom line is that the Hip Hop community and the Rap world owe a lot to Eazy E for what he did for the game. “The world can learn a lot from his existence in many ways. If you know the history of his legacy, then you know the many ups and downs, and the many mistakes that were made. Hearing those kinds of true life stories can teach us all very valuable lessons in life. They should know that he was a very down-to-earth dude, loved to joke around, very smart in the way that he turned his negatives into positives, and was responsible for the birth of West Coast hip-hop.” Krayzie Bone

  1. Note: Houston’s Shea Serrano is an award-winning music writer and goofball whose recent exploits include Last week, I went to the funeral of a person whom I cared about. While I am of course happy that he will get to spend the rest of eternity in Heaven with the woman that he loved (who was there waiting for him), I am sad for myself and for my family because he is someone we all cared about deeply. This is not a remembrance post, though. My wife, this particular man’s granddaughter, wrote one far better than I could ever hope to do. This, my true best friends, is a blueprint.
