Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am went on social media to call out a flight attendant on Australian airline Qantas. The artist accused the flight attendant of being racist after a Saturday incident at Sydney airport. Will.i.am said that the flight attendant was “overly aggressive” after he didn’t hear the flight instructions through his noise-canceling headphones. Once he landed, he tweeted out a photo of a police officer and said: “This is how your greeted when you land from Brisbane to Sydney flying @qantas with a #RacistFlightattendant.”

Qantas released a statement that said the incident was a misunderstanding and had nothing to do with race. “There was a misunderstanding on board, which seems to have been exacerbated by will.i.am wearing noise-canceling headphones and not being able to hear instructions from crew,” the airline said in a statement. “We’ll be following up with will.i.am and wish him well for the rest of the tour.”

Will.i.am did get some criticism from some people on Twitter who had a problem with him revealing the flight attendant’s name. “I don’t regret my actions,” he said, adding in another tweet that “today I FELT discrimination…and I spoke for all the other people who are voiceless,” he responded.
