Women: Is the “Hoe Phase” A Result of ‘Insecure’ Relationships from Men Or A Personal Choice?

She asked her friend Molly, “can she teach her how to be a hoe” and Molly replied yes. The two women went to a bar on an unsuccessful conquest to find someone that Issa could go home with. Ultimately, Issa decided to have sex with her neighbor after scoping him out through her window.

I thought about how much the actions of her character within the show mirrored the mentality of some of these women in today’s society. Women are much more liberated in their thinking in regard to sexual activity nowadays. A lot of women have disregarded and dismissed the typical perception of gender behavior. Meaning, some women are not afraid to detach their emotions from a sexual experience with a man. That type of behavior has usually been associated with the male, not the female.

To generalize the act of screwing people just to get your rocks off to a specific term for both genders; would be considering hoeing. The difference is, traditionally, men have been known to think with their little heads and not their big ones. We have been accused of basing our relationships on physicality as opposed to emotions and logic. We have been known to prefer to take what is good for us and not what is good for us. Typically, men don’t get insulted when someone calls them a dog, slut, or hoe. As Common once said, “I’m a hoe, but not a hoe nigga.”
