Woo Child Interview w/ Blacktruth.net

Woo Child wanted the title of his song ‘Center Stage’ to be self explanatory. The song focuses on the spotlight and pressure with being the center of attention. Woo Child says “the question is posed, can you handle that intensity, can you maintain that position at Center Stage, and are you willing to go beyond to stay there? “   The St. Louis rapper stopped by to talk about the song and video which is now playing @Blacktruth.net. How did you hook up with C. Jay Conrod? How did recording go down?

I caught C. Jay opening for Anthony David and liked his sound. When I hear cats my gears start turning and I start thinking on tracks we can do. So, I’d see him around the city and I’d be like, ‘yo, I gotta get you in the studio’ but I hadn’t written anything yet. So a good amount of time went by, and it had to feel like I was just talking whenever I’d see him because I’d say the same thing. But, the Heirs project came up and I wrote the track and I couldn’t find the right voice for it, and C. Jay came to mind. So I reached out and he was up for it, came through and vibed a little bit until we got all the melodies and he put it down.
