It’s worth noting that Obama becomes just the 17th president elected to a second term — even more notable, in a historic sense, because he is the first African-American president.
In general, second terms have not been distinctive. And some have been disastrous.
Obama can’t afford to boot the opportunity — and the country can’t afford for the GOP to invest any more in ensuring his failure.
