These comments created a mini firestorm amongst bloggers, entertainers and regular people alike.
One notable figure was Dr. Lamont Hill, a professor at Columbia University. He wrote an open letter to Slim Thug sharing his opinion on the rappers comments. He stated “In your interview, you talk about how much better white women treat their partners than black women. If what you’re saying is true, why do Whites have the highest divorce rate of any group? Do white men get tired of being treated like kings? In reality, it seems that you are buying into (and selling) a stale but dangerous ideal that constructs White women as ultra-feminine, loving, queens, and Black women as angry, selfish, and untrustworthy hoes.”
First off, let me establish that the head line ‘are white women better wives than black women’ is meant to grab your attention, and hopefully it did, but the question in it’s self is a ridiculous one.
By no means can you judge the value of one’s wife or mate based on their color, period. I think you should choose your mate based on what’s good for you and your situation. But I don’t think were dealing with love and commitment or anything else wholesome; no what we have here is the ugly truth.
Slim Thug made some valid points but maybe wasn’t able to articulate them as well as Dr. Hill was his. Talib Kweli, who is also a rapper, echoed the same sentiments, “the things he said are real problems in our community. He really couldn’t articulate on a so-called intellectual level what the reasons are for these pathologies—the racism, the problems in our relationships—so from his perspective, white chicks would treat him better. I know plenty of black dudes that feel the same way. I don’t agree with them but I understand why they say it. I don’t agree that all men are dogs but I understand why women would say that.”
According to statistics… Black females have more successful marriages with men of other races(Asian men and white men) than these men have with their own women….
But also, black women are less likely to marry out because of their preference for black men.
Black men are more likely to marry outside of their race than black women, but when they do, are more likely to have failing marriages, than black females who have more successful marriages with men of other races…
So black men can GET a woman, but can’t keep her… If black women were more open to IR, black women can not only GET men of other races, but know how to keep a man as well, since their marriage rates are more on average successful compared to when they marry their own men. The divorce rate is not only high between black men and their own women, but high when black men and other races of females as well…
Also, white females, can GET any man that they want but can’t KEEP them as well… Since their marriage statistics show that not only do they have high divorce rates in their own race with their own men, but also with black men, and more likely to have failing marriages with Asian men as well.
So Black men and white women are in the same boat, where in comparison to their counterparts, neither of them can hold on to a spouse.
Black divorce rates are high. Statistics also show that in divorce, it is the females who divorce their men more on average, and men are less likely to file for divorce(in any race, it’s the females divorcing men more on average). So the black divorce rate isn’t reflecting that black women are bad wives, since black women are the ones divorcing black men… It shows that black men can’t keep their wives happy. Also in divorce rates between black men and white women, it’s usually white women divorcing black men. Which also shows that black men can’t keep their white wives happy either.
So black men like to blame black women for why the black marriage rates are high, and demonize their own women, when in actuality, black men with any woman results in a high divorce rate. While black females with any other race of men, reflects more successful marriages.
Black wives are probably the best wives since their marriages with other men are less likely to end in divorce…
So the most popular interracial couples are
Black men/white women
White men/Asian women
White women/any race of men
While the most successful IR couples are
Black women/white men
White men/Asian women
black women/Asian men
The people being advertised the most for IR, are also the worse when it comes to having successful IR relationships. The people who AREN’T advertised for IR, are the most successful IR couples. Black women are not advertised in media for IR the way that white women are, even though black women are more likely than white women to have more successful marriages with the men that they marry, and make their men happier on average.
Black men are more advertised for IR in media, than white men and Asian men, even though black men are more likely to have marriages with ANY race of females end in divorce.
