I couldn’t help but think about Bernie Mac and his classic scene out of Chris Rock movie ‘Head of State’. Bernie’s character was running for Vice President and he found himself in a Larry King style interview, and one of the questions was about NATO. This was his unique and funny response to the questions.
Interviewer: How do you feel about NATO?
Bernie Mac: I never met NATO. I don’t know anything about him. I don’t talk about people behind their back.
Interviewer: NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
Bernie Mac: Oh you didn’t say that. I knew this guy named NATO Jenkins. I thought you were talking about him.
Interviewer: You are running for public office, you have to know these things.
Bernie Mac: Do you know NATO Jenkins?
Interviewer: No; I’m sorry I haven’t met the gentleman.
Bernie Mac: That’s what I said; Ain’t that what I said? You don’t know who NATO is; I don’t know who NATO is!
