Prior to Aretha Franklin’s funeral, organizers sated it would be a “service not a show.” However, the funeral was more of an event than memorial. First of all, the presence of Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson Sr. together at any place is a conversation starter. Then there was Michael Eric Dyson speaking about Barack Obama and Donald Trump. Not to mention the long list of celebrities, athletes and political figures.
