Book Review: Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention

What’s missing from the book is Malcolm. The man and his insight were much more important to the Autobiography of Malcolm X than the actual events and stories that gave that insight. I remember as a young man, reading and gaining knowledge from The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I learn everything from the mindset and courtship of female’s, to not sit with my back to the door in a public place. In the street we call it ‘game,’ that’s what the Autobiography of Malcolm X is full of ‘game’. Don’t get me wrong the absence of Malcolm in the first person doesn’t make Manning Marable book a bad book, just not as entertaining as the Autobiography.  With that said I do recommend you giving this book a read. It is insightful and very informative.

SIDENOTE  After all his hard work and dedication in completing the book, Manning Marable died April 1st 2011, three days before the release of his book. He was 60 years old.
