Chris Brown won’t be required to appear in court on assault charge

Thus, Brown is allowed to waive his scheduled court appearance Monday, according to billboard.com.

According to Billboard, Brown’s lawyers told Judge Tignor that they thought Brown did not need to check out of rehab in Los Angeles and fly to Washington because they will be requesting a new court date Monday. The star was ordered to spend 90 days in live-in anger management rehab earlier this week.

TMZ reported earlier in November that the assault would be reduced to a misdemeanor instead of a felony. Brown pleaded not guilty, and issued a statement denying that he ever punched anyone. According to Brown, his bodyguard was the one who got into the scuffle.

TMZ also reported that the police draft said that Brown’s bodyguard threw the first punch during the incident. The bodyguard’s charges were also reduced.
