Fox News reported that sexual activity can disrupt the balance of the vagina’s ecosystem.
The delicate balance of good bacteria and bad bacteria can be easily offset, especially when semen is introduced into the equation.
A woman’s vagina normally maintains a pH of 4.5 whereas semen can range from a pH of 7.0 to 8.0 according to Fox News.
“The results suggest that condoms can help the vagina maintain its natural acidic defenses, the researchers said.”
The new study was published online this week in the journal PLOS One.
What do you think of this study’s findings that suggest that condoms could be good for a woman’s vagina?
