Cynthia McKinney: Revolutionary Mind State!
By: Jarrod Horton
“Ever since I came to Congress in 1992, there are those who have been trying to silence my voice. I’ve been told to ‘sit down and shut up’ over and over again, well I won’t sit down and I won’t shut up until the unvarnished truth is placed before the American people.”
In 2006, Cynthia McKinney was in the Democratic Party while serving six terms as a member of the United States House of Representative. She is the only black woman to ever represent the state of Georgia in the House. In 2007, she became a member of the Green Party, (independent political party) the following year she was their nominee for the president of the United States. In 2009, she was locked inside an Israel prison for trying to deliver crayons to children living in the Gaza Strip.
