A driver certainly allows all members of a party to drink on a night out – and dabble in the drug-of-the-moment too.
‘The new thing is Molly, which is something that you put on your tongue,’ the interviewee says. ‘I don’t even know what’s in it. Something with Ecstasy, I think. I keep hearing the word Molly everywhere.’
She says that ‘Molly’ and its ilk are most likely supplied by ‘New York City connections’, perhaps doormen, who she’s sure are ‘tripling the price.’
There is very little in the way of wife-swapping or affairs though: ‘Amongst my crowd I don’t think anyone would want to risk their good life,’ she says. ‘That’s rolling the dice. Divorce is expensive and ugly. Life is good, especially in the Hamptons.’
In fact they women of ‘her generation’ prefer female company to male, and relish Sunday nights when their husbands head back to the city.
‘Women are so happy when the husbands leave,’ she says. ‘They’re like, “Honey, don’t miss that helicopter, don’t miss that ride!”‘
