Florida A & M Students Experience ‘Higher Learning’ Racism When White Man Pulls Gun Out on Them

One of the students, Isaiah Butterfield caught the incident on camera and posted it on Twitter.

Butterfield described the situation as he and his three friends Stephen Brooks, Joshua Cosby, and Fitzroy Rhoden were trying to get on the elevator to visit their friend Zavian Flowers. “We were shook because we hadn’t said anything to him. We were just standing there and then he closed the door and locked it,” he said

The apartment’s complex management did issue a statement saying “Firearms are prohibited on our property and we take this matter very seriously.”

The incident reminded me of the scene in the movie Higher Learning when the character pulls out a gun on Omar Epp’s character Malik. Although the White dude wasn’t a fellow student, it shows that a lot of Black people can experience extreme racism no matter where they at. Luckily the matter didn’t escalate into something worse.
