He may have that though with his latest song release “Heaven.” Featuring Freddie Gibbs, Nick Grant, and R&B duo VanJess’s smooth hook, the track further proves that IAMNOBODI can mix R&B instrumentals with the realism raps of the two gifted MCs. Grant sets the stage, describing as he often does how his life has changed from struggling at a young age to the triumphs of wealth and success.
“Set the ambiance, nothing is something we made it out of it,” the André 3000, Nas, and Bun B-cosigned MC raps in opening his verse. “Mink drag the floor, tell PETA to peep the exoticness / I see you rapper’s energy’s funny that’s politics / I love ’em all, b*tches wall to wall like a hieroglyph.” Gibbs verse traces his foray from elementary school to non-academic extracurricular activities as a youth. Now making a career out of music, the Gary, Indiana product brags about making good on his Rap dreams.
Most recently, IAMNOBODI’s been producing for other artists, particularly on the West Coast. He’s helped lay beats for Nipsey Hussle’s “Double Up,” G-Eazy’s “For This,” and Bryson Tiller’s “Set It Off,” among others. His last solo project release was 2016’s The Imani EP.
