Besides obtaining material from your local library, there are many institutions throughout the nation that prepare potential students to take the GED. The process varies from state to state but the requirements are pretty much the same. It is wise to take the preparation class before taking the actual test. In Illinois you can call the Illinois Adult Literacy hot line at: (800)321-9511 for a GED preparation class near you. Most of these classes are offered at no charge.
