New President of the Chicago teachers union Karen Lewis has decided to protest the 54 school closing with a three day march. The attempt is to exert pressure on the Chicago Board of Education, its CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett and Mayor Emanuel Rahm. But the real culprit is Rahm, who has swept in the city from Wall Street and has sold off everything from parking lots to Wrigley Field.
I didn’t vote for this man, and don’t believe in the hypocrisy of politics; but I do believe a collective voice will cause awareness and ultimately lead to change. And that’s why I support teacher union president Karen Lewis and her three day march throughout Chicago’s urban communities. There is a plotted effort to send Black children to prison instead of college or entrepreneurial opportunities. If we can come together and show concern for these school closings maybe they will save half of them and put adequate material and staff in there for the kids to learn. I can go on forever with this rant but I digress. What I did instead was sign my name on the list for the march. It starts on May 18th and ends on May 20th. Here is the link to sign your name here
