Is Major League Baseball the New WWE?

braunThe latest being Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun who accepted a 65 game banned from his team after violations of the Basic Agreement and its Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Braun has since been reinstated, and will resume with his career next season, but his credibility along with the integrity of Major League Baseball is now shattered.

Consider the last World Series, and the play of series MVP David Ortiz, his .688 Batting average and two home runs immediately began chatter amongst some people who believed he might have been “juiced up.” Not a good look for Major League Baseball; it used to be “America’s game,” the symbol of red, white and blue. But now it is on par with WWE wrestling; deception by ownership, fake-ness from the players, yeah I think Hulk Hogan would do fine on the diamond.

I use to be a fan of baseball, and honestly despite the revelation of players using PED’s; I probably would still be a fan of baseball. The thing I dislike the most is the hypocrisy of Commissioner Bud Selig and the rest of baseball’s higher brass. To enjoy the benefits of the Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa home run chase of 1998, and the rest of the circus concluded by Barry Bonds; and then ostracize those very same players is hypocritical. To overlook the complete body of work from everyone in question, and everyone caught is also hypocritical.

I remember the “Bash Brother’s” who were Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. I remember Barry Bonds in Pittsburgh with Bobby Bonilla and Roger Clemens in Toronto. And what I remember from a lot of these players; is them having Hall of Fame careers before they were accused of using Performance Enhancing Drugs. It is unfair to the fans of these players and to the fans of the game, not to look at the whole picture and give us feedback.
