Solutions for the next Trayvon Martin

I know the environment and attitudes of people have changed from in the past, but based on this verdict and other gross injustices perpetrated on Black people here in America, I think it’s obvious that the problems are pretty much the same as our parent s and the rest of our ancestors had to face. Therefore nothing is original on the list; a lot of people in the past have tried to cure the ills of the Black Community and some have witnessed minor success but for the most part it’s been a failure. Which leads me to my final solution; something in which W.E.B Du Bois, Marcus Garvey, Elijah Muhammad, Nina Simone and a host of others have suggested over the years.

Solution #4: Political and Economic Separation

We are already segregated here in America; so it’s not like we got move to one place to start this, just simply start talking to your family, your neighbors, and entire community to start a plan, combine our resources and use it to elect officials who specifically cater to the needs of the Black communities. Start taking a portion of our income and putting it toward something constructive that will help our future generations, such as businesses, schools, and land. This is so far fetch at the moment, but so close based on the coma dare that comes from tragedy, and Lord knows it’s been a living hell sometimes here in America. You remember when Michelle Obama famously said “that this was the first time she was proud of America” after the election of her husband in 2008. I wonder how she feels about the country at this moment; but in closing I leave you with this idea once again from Tupac Shakur.  “And we just g one start slowly but surely taking our communities back. Regulate our community. Organize. We need to start taking care of our own. We gotta start somewhere, and I don’t about anything else, but I know I will start.”
