The Dangers of ‘Recreational’ Activities for Today’s Youth

I am not sure what can be done about these topics from an individual standpoint, but feel that they are issues about which parents should be concerned, particularly, those of us with teenagers.

Peer pressure and many other factors can contribute to our youth feeling that engaging in these various activities as forms of recreation, or taking dares or any other reason that they might offer as excuses for doing so, could ultimately result in serious injury or the loss of life.

As a parent myself, it is something that deeply concerns me, even though I know that most of our communities already have many youth programs in the works, and much with which to contend regarding many of the growing number of unique concerns which they face.

These issues are too big to tackle all at once, but I know that we must have resources at our disposal which may be suited for at least beginning discussion about something that should concern us all in this alarming, absolutely astounding tendency to turn toward the irresponsible engagement in such activities for so-called fun.

Perhaps, it could begin with posting something related to the issue in an online forum, and thereby, at least demonstrate our awareness and concern. Who knows what types of discussions might ensue as a result?
